The Wilted One

The Wilted One
Written 01/24/17 by Shakita Dixon
Alone
Darkness abounds
No water, no air
No sign of life anywhere
Despair resides where love resided
Thirsty and helpless
Awaken!
Rise and receive help
This life has purpose
Shed your wilted clothes
Cloak yourself in newness
And
Live
Produce and shine
Smile!
Embrace newness and consume the Living Water
Breathe the air of love
Fill your lungs and
LIVE!
Yesterday after work, I went home and fell asleep because I wasn’t feeling well. I had a migraine that could champion all migraines. It could’ve been a battle between Sonia Blade and Raiden…at least that’s what it felt like. Jax could’ve been in my head too. Maybe I’ve been playing a little too much Mortal Kombat. I digress, LOL.
While in my attempt to sleep until my migraine left, I was awaken with the words: A wilted flower. It shook me because when I heard those words, I immediately saw an image if a wilted, broken and lifeless flower. I wrote this poem today and wanted to share with you.
It’s only been 24 days into the New Year and some of us are that wilted flower: Without hope, seemingly in despair and locking out all signs of love but don’t be. Don’t be carried away by the current circumstances of this world. 2017 is going to be so amazing and favor filled. This will be one for the books, I promise. Great things are happening and you have to happen to those things.
Take courage and know this: even though things may look like darkness, God’s light shines everywhere. He’s omnipresent and there is purpose in you. Look to the hills. There is your help!
Love you all,
Shakita
