Sleeping Beauty

After I got to work and got settled in, I had another conversation with God and I asked Him, “Why doesn’t so and so see xyz?” Before I could even get my question completely out, God quickly replied back to me. Adam was sleep and so was Boaz. As you can see, my question had everything to do with a husband finding his wife. I’ve been married before and I desire to be married again, forever this time.
We, as women, are taught that He that finds a wife finds a good thing. This is true. This is scripture. This does not mean that the man has to go out on a witch hunt to find a wife. He won’t be scouring the neighborhood parties, bars, churches, grocery stores for his wife but he HAS to find her. So how does he find her? He finds her by simply waking up.
I can hear you now, “but God will place the woman in front of the man”. Yeah but if he’s still sleep, he wouldn’t know she’s there. He has to wake up. Read Genesis 2:20-25. I want to focus on 2:21 “So the Lord God caused a deep sleep to fall upon the man, and while he slept took one of his ribs and closed up its place with flesh.” Adam wasn’t just sleep; he was in a deep sleep. Some might debate that he was spiritually sleep but I beg to differ. There is no way for a man, a human being to be spiritually sleep and have a whole rib removed from their body. Impossible. Adam was physically sleep. It wasn’t until he woke up and opened his eyes that he saw his wife, Eve.
Read Ruth 3:1-14. People always talk about how obedient Ruth was but I want you to focus on verse 7, “And when Boaz had eaten and drunk, and his heart was merry, he went to lie down at the end of the heap of grain.” Boaz was not only full and drunk but his heart was merry. In verse 8, it says that Boaz was startled and turned over. This is an indication that he too was asleep. It wasn’t until he woke up and turned over that he saw Ruth at his feet.
I don’t know about y'all, but this has encouraged me all the way up this morning because it’s not that I or you aren’t ready for marriage. God knows that you desire to be married. HE knows that HE created you to be that good thing but the man that HE has for you hasn’t opened his eyes to see you yet. You can be standing right in front of his face, sitting right next to him, praying for him, in the same vicinity as him but if he is still asleep, baby girl, he won’t notice that you’re there.
At first I thought well maybe since Adam and Boaz were physically sleep that it meant that they literally had to wake up from the sleep. But this is what I took from God’s answer. If the man that God has for you is so consumed with perfecting himself, his thoughts are cluttered, there is confusion around him, etc., then he is a sleeping beauty. Nothing can wake him up but a kiss from God.
No, perfection is not needed but he does need clear vision for his purpose in life, how to lead a family and love his wife. His vision has to be clear in order for him to see that you’ve been there the whole time. So take courage, my sisters. Keep praying and working on you. Your sleeping beauty will wake up sooner than you think.
